This is how it works

1

Download Trezor Bridge

Obtain the verified standalone installer for Windows, macOS, or Linux directly from the official Trezor deployment source.

2

Install the Background Service

Execute the installation package. The daemon runs discreetly in the background, communicating safely through port 21325 on your local machine.

3

Plug In Your Trezor

Attach your Trezor Model One, Safe 3, or Safe 5 via USB. Trezor Bridge automatically initiates the hardware handshake within seconds.

4

Transact with Confidence

Manage, swap, and verify crypto transactions seamlessly in any modern browser without relying on outdated browser plugins.

Understanding Trezor Bridge: Architecture & Operation

Trezor Bridge is an indispensable background utility engineered by SatoshiLabs designed to facilitate encrypted data exchange between physical Trezor hardware wallets and modern web browsers. Historically, hardware wallets required NPAPI extensions or Chrome-specific applications, both of which presented security vulnerabilities and compatibility restrictions. Trezor Bridge resolves this by functioning as an independent, lightweight communication daemon written in Go.

Running silently on your computer, Trezor Bridge establishes a local HTTP server listening exclusively on port 21325. When you visit Trezor Suite for Web or authorized decentralized applications (such as MetaMask or Yearn), the web interface sends cryptographically isolated API calls directly to this local endpoint. Trezor Bridge translates these instructions into low-level USB communications that your physical device can decode.

Crucially, Trezor Bridge never holds, stores, or handles your recovery seed or private keys. The hardware wallet architecture enforces that cryptographic private keys remain isolated within the device's secure enclave. Trezor Bridge merely transports unverified unsigned payload data to the device and conveys signed outputs back to the browser once you confirm physical button clicks.

✓ Cross-platform stability across macOS, Windows, and major Linux distributions.

✓ Native isolation: Operates locally without telemetry or sensitive credential forwarding.

✓ Seamless fallback: Ensures WebUSB and WebHID alternatives remain accessible if required.

To verify that your Trezor Bridge service is actively running, you can navigate to the local status monitor in your browser. If your device is not recognized, simply reconnect the USB cable, inspect your operating system permissions, or restart the background process. With Trezor Bridge installed, your decentralized web interactions remain both effortless and fortified by cold-storage physical verification.
